Laser World of Photonics Shanghai and Light Publishing Group Deepen Strategic Cooperation, Targeting the Intelligent Photonics Industry

October-21-2026

Intelligent photonics, encompassing optical communications, integrated photonics, optical chips, and AI imaging, is currently at the forefront of interdisciplinary research and undergoing rapid evolution. In September this year, the 15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry explicitly called for "consolidating the foundation for the development of the photonics industry and driving breakthroughs in technologies across core segments of the photonics industry," which sets higher requirements for related basic research and efforts to overcome key technological challenges.

In 2025, China's domestic optical communications market exceeded RMB 175 billion in size, while the optical chip market reached approximately RMB 8.9 billion. Surging demand for 800G and 1.6T optical modules is directly driving research on core devices such as high-speed optical chips. Integrated photonics is also rapidly expanding beyond traditional optical communications into four frontier areas: AI photonic computing, on-chip LiDAR, quantum integrated photonics, and biophotonic sensing. AI imaging is also moving toward deep integration of optical hardware, optoelectronic chips, and edge AI algorithms.

Meanwhile, China's laser industry has achieved large-scale, mature development. In 2025, the domestic laser equipment market generated revenue of RMB 95.8 billion, accounting for 58% of the global total. Laser technology is rapidly evolving toward greater precision, integration, and intelligence. Ultrafast laser micro- and nanofabrication, in particular, provides vital support for the high-precision, large-scale manufacturing and commercialization of optical chips, integrated photonic devices, and AI imaging sensors. The synergistic evolution of lasers and intelligent photonics continues to raise new scientific questions and technical challenges.

Following the trajectory of technological evolution and interdisciplinary convergence, and in response to the core issues that urgently need to be clarified in academia while jointly exploring disciplinary trends, Laser World of Photonics Shanghai and Light Publishing Group will join hands on March 8–9, 2027 to launch an in-depth dialogue on lasers and intelligent photonics—the "Light Conference on Laser & AI Photonics (LCLAP 2027)."

Unlike the one-way information delivery of conventional conferences, this event will bring together world-renowned scientists, young scholars, and frontline researchers in one setting. Rather than merely presenting achievements across the two major tracks of laser technology and intelligent photonics, it will conduct in-depth discussions across the full chain of "basic research–technological breakthroughs–application exploration," simultaneously conveying to participants cutting-edge laboratory discoveries, the latest progress on key scientific questions and technical bottlenecks, and academic explorations in potential application scenarios, thereby building a high-level communication platform for the exchange of academic ideas and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Laser World of Photonics Shanghai: Harnessing Innovation Momentum to Promote Industry-University-Research Exchanges and Cooperation

Backed by Messe München and established in Shanghai since 2006, the Laser World of Photonics Shanghai has deepened its presence in the Chinese market and radiated across the Asia-Pacific region, forging profound connections between premium exhibitors and professional buyers in the laser, optics and optoelectronics industries across Asia and even the world. From March 8 to 10, 2027, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), the exhibition will bring together innovative forces and resources across the entire global optoelectronics industry chain, demonstrating the power of industry aggregation, moving cutting-edge optoelectronic technologies out of laboratories and onto the front lines of industry, and turning future technologies into tangible industrial drivers available today. Meanwhile, the exhibition will expand application scenarios and deepen global cooperation, building a core hub for exchanges and collaboration across the global optoelectronic industrial chain, where every innovative force can unlock its full value.
